iPhone 17 Slim leaks, said to cost more than iPhone 17 Pro Max

Apple recently announced its new iPhone 16 series, but leaks for the iPhone 17 series have already started appearing online. Interestingly, Apple is tipped to introduce a new model next year, which could be called iPhone 17 Slim. Now, this smartphone has been in leaks for months now, but a fresh report suggests that it will have a new type of OLED display. The device is also reported to be costlier than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Let’s first talk about the new display type. A report from DigiTimes claims that the iPhone 17 Slim will come with a new OLED display technology, which will help Apple to offer a thin profile. So, what is Apple considering to offer? Well, the cited source says that the iPhone 17 Slim could use a TDDI OLED panel, which was recently introduced by Novatek. The new tech combines a touch sensor layer and display driver unit into one, which is said to reduce the smartphone’s thickness by a few millimeters.
So, the report further says that Apple will likely partner with Novatek to supply OLED panels. But, so far, there is no official communication on this, so users are advised to take the details with a pinch of salt.
Now, regarding pricing, The Information has previously reported that the iPhone 17 Slim will be costlier than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and one of the reasons for this could be the slim form factor and the new display tech. Moreover, Apple could also consider reducing the size of the Dynamic Island, which means that iPhone users could get a much shorter notch on the display.
Additionally, Apple is also tipped to move the rear camera module to the center of the phone, but all this information is just based on leaks and rumours. It is currently unknown whether Apple will also change the display size. It was previously reported that the iPhone 17 Slim would have a smaller screen than the iPhone 15 Plus.
Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is selling at Rs 1,44,900 for the 256GB variant. The 512GB model will cost Rs 1,64,900, while the 1TB version is priced at Rs 1,84,900. With the launch of the iPhone 17 Slim, the company is also said to discontinue the Plus series. At the moment, there is no official confirmation of this. But, if this turns out to be true, then the iPhone 16 Plus could be the last Plus model from Apple.
